Drive M7 Aspar’s Leon Camier Says It Was His Dream to Race in Front of Home Crowd

The 2005 British Supersport winner and 2009 British Superbike Champion Leon Camier is getting ready to race in front of his home crowd this weekend. As the next round of the 2014 MotoGP World Championship will take place in the UK at Silverstone circuit. This will be the third race of the season for the 28-year old rider Drive M7 Aspar rider. Given that the chief rider of the team, Nicky Hayden still needs time to recover from the wrist surgery that he had received in the recent past.

Camier believes that so far he had done well in the premier class racing, as at Indianapolis he was able to show terrific speed in spite of a DNF. Then, at Brno he went on to seize a point for his team and now just before the British Grand Prix Leon is looking more energetic and confident. This can be judged from his recent comments in which he said that he is quite happy as they have continued to make progress from the time he has jumped on to the Drive M7 Aspar’s machine.

In fact, at Brno we were able to finish the race with a point and now the aim on this weekend is to work as hard as we had done earlier in order to keep going in the same way, said Camier. He revealed on this occasion that they had a productive test in Czech Republic, as it had helped them to bridge the gap with leaders of the race and develop better understanding of the machine and they need to carry it on in the future as well, said Leon.

He also said that they were able to improve their race pace and it will prove quite crucial on this weekend. Talking about the British Grand Prix, Camier said that his dream is about to come true and there is no match to racing in front of your home crowd and home track. Also, he likes the Silverstone circuit so it’s another plus point for him, said the British rider.

Camier is hopeful that by the time he will reach his homeland he will understand a little more about his bike and with some luck he may be able to achieve good result. The Drive Aspar rider added to it that Silverstone circuit has always remain a good track for him, as with WSBK he was able to reach the podium nearly every year. However, he knows that it’s not going to be an easy race for him.

Leon said that Silverstone’s fast, technical and direction changing track will suit him well. Though, he knows that the weekend is going to be tough for him, so it will be crucial for him to never let his focus divert, said Camier. He added that if he managed to get the right setting in the bike and enable to adapt to the tyres and brakes of the machine quickly then, he can be very strong.
