High Performance vs. Regular Motorcycles

There are two basic types of motorcycles used worldwide. The most common are the regular ones that are seen on the streets and used by people for everyday travelling. On the other hand, there are high performance motorbikes that work in a different manner and are mainly used for racing purposes because of their extra power and speed.

It is extremely difficult to compare these two types of motorcycles, as they are used for separate purposes and their characteristics differ in many ways. However, there are quite a few people, who would still be interested in knowing about these two types of vehicles. Since J&S Accessories has been dealing with products related to motorbikes, we have got technical knowhow of these machines. Therefore, we have brought to you the main differences between them.

Usage

First of all, you need to know how these motorcycles are used by the riders. In case of the standard vehicles, they are not built or designed to be on the limit, so they don’t interest people who are fond of racing. These machines are really good for the beginners, who want to learn motorcycle riding and become perfect in it. Compared to them, the high performance motorbikes are manufactured keeping the racers in mind. They are only good for experts, as they have got a few complexities involved that can cause a few issues for the beginners.

Price

There is a massive difference in the price of regular and high performance motorcycles. The former are inexpensive, as they don’t really have additional features such as the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). They are actually developed for the common riders, so that they can easily afford them and meet their daily requirements. All the other types of bikes whether they are custom made or built for racing, are heavily priced and are out of the reach of the common motorcyclist.

Power and Speed

The more you spend the faster machine you get. All of the top motorcycle manufactures have made categories in target different types of audiences. Some of the most popular brands such as Honda, Yamaha, and BMW etc have been actively taking part in premiere class motorcycle racing, so they are really making good money through that. Moreover, they are also producing traditional vehicles for common motorcyclists that are slower in speed and have lesser horsepower.

Ease of riding

When you talk of an easy ride, you actually need a regular motorbike that does not have much horsepower and also comes in with lesser features. It will always be easier to ride and even an amateur person will be able to understand the features easily. Compared to that, a high performance motorcycle can be extremely difficult to ride and even understand.

Element of risk

Probably the most important factor is the element of risk involved in high performance motorcycles that is twice as much compared to the regular ones. If you are travelling at a greater speed and get involved in an accident, the chances are that you might end up sustaining serious injuries. On the other hand, you will not be at that much risk on a standard bike that does not allow you to over speed. Even if you do have an accident, you might get out of it unhurt. However, the extent of injuries is also dependent on whether you are wearing the right protective gear such as helmets, body armour and motorcycle boots. If you have got all of them, you will feel quite lucky, but your vehicle might get damaged quite a bit, depending on the nature of the impact.

Important Motorcycle Accessories

Once you buy a motorcycle, you have to take care of a few important things otherwise you might end up in trouble. The most important of them all is that you should have knowledge of how to ride it. There are different training sessions meant for this purpose, so you should make sure that you take maximum advantage from them.

Moreover, you need to have the protective gear, which is going to keep you safe in case you have an accident. Even if you are the best rider out there, it does not mean that you are completely safe. Some accidents are simply caused because of others and there is nothing you can do about that. Even if you cannot afford buying all sorts of gear, you should at least get one quality helmet that prevents your brain from sustaining any damage in a crash.

These are the basic things and most people often have them under cover, but there are a few other things that are not taken seriously at all by the riders e.g. the motorcycle accessories. They might not look so important, but actually help you in a lot of ways and prevent accidents. Although there is a long list of accessories available on different online stores such as J&S Accessories, yet the following ones are a must for every rider.

Indicators

Some motorcycle riders get the indicators removed on purpose in order to make their vehicle look cooler. On the other hand, some lose the indicators in an accident or because of any other factor and don’t bother getting new ones. However, it is a big mistake on the part of a motorcyclist to ignore this important accessory. All of you will be well aware of how the indicators work and they are really helpful for the vehicles following you. This way, you will not have any accidents, as the people behind you will be aware of the direction you are headed to.

Locks

There are different types of locks available for the motorcyclists such as the disk and chain locks that help you secure the vehicle. Moreover, there are ground anchors available as well that keep your asset protected no matter where you go.

Goggles

Since there are quite a few riders who prefer the open face helmets, their eyes are in danger of catching the debris and other solid objects flying in the air. This can be risky and can affect your eyesight as well. Therefore, you need to buy some cool goggles that will help you make a fashion statement and keep your eyes safe at the same time.

Mirrors

It is ideal to keep your attention on the road ahead rather than worrying about what’s coming from behind. However, you still need to be aware of where the traffic is coming from, so that you can adjust your lane accordingly. In order to do that, you should have rear view mirrors installed on your motorcycle, so that you don’t have to take any risks by turning your neck backwards.

Body Armour

Other than the helmets and other protective gear, there are a few accessories such as the body armour that can help you feel a lot safer on the bike. Such accessories come in different shapes and sizes, so you can choose them according to your needs.

Motorcycle Helmets - Are They Safe?

There are two schools of thought when it comes to motorcycle helmets – one is of course in their favour and the other speaks against them. As a common rider, it can become extremely difficult to judge whether which one is correct.

The main idea behind wearing a helmet is that it reduces the chances of serious injuries to the head in case of an accident. However, some people argue that helmets are the main reason behind most of the accidents caused to motorcyclists, as the vision of the rider is limited and he gets into serious trouble on busy roads.
In case you experiment, you will find out that this is a valid argument, as your sideways vision does get limited when you wear a helmet. However, this does not justify the fact that crashes are caused because of this reason. On most of the occasions, the main reason behind an accident is over speeding or any other silly mistake by the rider.

If you are wearing a helmet and riding the motorcycle in your own lane, you will not have to bother about looking sideways. You will only be required to do that if you are continuously changing lanes and breaching the rules. Therefore, it is not valid to blame the helmets for the accident in such a scenario, as the person should be held responsible for his rash riding.

Nowadays, helmets come in a lot of variety and you can choose the one that you are most comfortable with. The main types are full face, open face and flip helmets. All of them come in different designs and work in different ways too. Although all of them are unique and look cool, yet the latter is more flexible, as it allows you to flip the visor backwards when you want to feel the pleasantness of the weather. In case the conditions are extreme, you can flip it back into its original position.

No matter how expert you are in riding motorcycles, you cannot rule out the fact that others can make mistakes as well and that can eventually force you off the bike. In such a situation, you would definitely want to save your head from a direct impact to the ground. The best way of making this possible is by wearing a helmet.

While riding a motorcycle or even driving a car, you have to keep your focus on what’s happening in front of you, so there is no point in criticising helmets for limiting the sideways vision to some extent. If you are so much concerned about things happening next to you, there is a solution for that too i.e. put the rear view mirrors on your vehicle.

There is absolutely no doubt that motorcycle helmets are safe and should be worn by every rider. They have got no disadvantages whatsoever and do not cost much either. Above that, they look really cool, so you will not have to compromise on style. In case you are interested in buying one, you can simply place your order online from a reputable company like J&S Accessories.
