Rossi Sad for not Winning a Single Race in the First Half of 2014 MotoGP Season

Weather conditions were not as tricky at the Sachsenring as they were in Assen, still MotoGP riders had a tough time racing in the ninth round of the world championship on last Sunday, July 13th. This includes Movistar Yamaha MotoGP’s Valentino Rossi too, as the Italian rider is of the view that he had missed the podium due to tricky weather in Germany. At Assen, Valentino took the risk of using slick tires, but soon he realised that this gamble could backfire, so he had to go to the pits in order to switch the bike. As a result, Rossi finished fifth in the eighth round of the 2014 season.

The doctor had to face a similar situation at the Sachsenring when rain started pouring down just minutes before the start of the race. This forced Rossi and nearly 13 other riders to go to the pits and make a start with the wets after the racers, who had made the normal start, crossed turn one. However, showers did not last long and the track started to dry up, which once again forced Rossi and other riders to switch to their dry bikes and start from pit once again.

According to Rossi, the confusing weather conditions at the Sachsenring made things really difficult and perilous for them. The early switching to the wets pushed the veteran rider down to 13th place when he started from the pits, but he kept his cool and then slowly worked his way up. Finally in the lap seven the doctor was able to secure fourth place. This was the time when Repsol Honda rider moved into the lead, but unfortunately Rossi failed to improve his position any further after that.

Eventually, Rossi finished in the fourth place just ten seconds behind his teammate Jorge Lorenzo, who seized the third position in the race. To share the podium with winner Marc Marquez and second positioned DaniPedrosa. Rossi admitted after the race that he lacked the pace, which deprived him from the podium. Valentine also said that he knew that it was pretty tough for him to beat his rivals on this track. Though, he tried to keep up with Jorge but Lorenzo was much faster than him and in the end he finished at fourth, said Rossi.

Pedrosa’s second place and Valentino’s fourth place in the race means that Honda rider has finally been able to get hold of the second position completely in the overall standings with 148 points. While, Rossi is at three with 141 points and Andrea Dovizioso of Ducati is at four with 99 points. Whereas, Lorenzo has completed the top five by securing fifth place with 97 points at the end of the first half of 2014 MotoGP season.

Commenting on his performance in the first half of the 2014 season, Rossi said that he is very pleased about the first half. He said that he managed to reach the podium on five occasions of which four were second positions, but he was sad because he was not able to win any race till now. Yet he believes that he was very swift and competitive. The 35-year old rider declared on this occasion that they need to continue to work like this and try to outclass Marquez.
