Three New Standard Bikes of 2014 that Riders Can’t Wait to Ride

As compared to cruisers and sports bikes, standard version of the street motorcycles is hard to spot. However, this does not mean that a standard motorcycle is not so popular, as there are many riders across the world who still prefers a naked bike over a cruiser or sports motorcycle. The major reason behind this liking is that a standard bike allows them to ride in a natural position because foot pegs on such motorcycles are right under the feet and the handle bar is also quite high. Therefore, bikers would not need to lean forward as they have to do on sports bikes or sit in a reclining posture like they do on a cruiser.


As a result that each year we get to see some exciting new models of the standard bikes because manufacturers face some serious competition in this category as well. Therefore, to lure them manufacturers come up with new designs and powerful engines for their naked bikes every year. Now, 2014 has begun and motorcycle makers are once again gearing up to bring the new models of their standard bikes in the market. So we have listed three upcoming standard bikes which people are eagerly waiting to ride in 2014.

Ducati Monster 1200

Italian motorcycle manufacturer, Ducati has been producing a version of its standard bike under by the name of Monster for the last 20 years and with the passage of time it is only getting more popular among the riders. Thanks to the ever increasing size and power of the Monster. Now Ducati fans will once again see a brand new model of this standard bike that will be called Monster 1200. It will arrive in the market during this year. The exciting thing about the Ducati Monster 1200 is that it has an extremely powerful liquid-cooled 11-degree Testastretta 1198 engine that produces a 135 horsepower in the basic version and 145 in the 1200 S model. Moreover, the wheelbase of the Monster 1200 is also much bigger than its predecessors, as it touches 2.4 inches. Therefore, the weight of the Monster 1200 has also increased and now it weighs about 460 pounds. To the extent the weight of the new Monster is concerned, the standard version will cost you $13,495, while the S model will be offered at a price of $15,995. Harley-Davidson Street 750 and 500

Due to the increase in the demand for standard street motorcycles, this year world’s renowned bike maker Harley-Davidson is also launching two brand new models of naked bikes under a new platform known as Street. These new standard bikes of Harley-Davidson will be called Street 500 and 750. The Kansas City plant of the manufacturer will produce these motorcycles with liquid-cooled 60-degree V-twin engine that has four valves in each cylinder. The single balance shaft has also been incorporated in the Street in order to keep the centre of gravity low and give height to the seat. However, it remains to be seen whether 480 pond Street will sound like the traditional bikes of Harley.


BMW R nineT

BMW is not too behind in this race as well, as the German based company has also unveiled its latest R nineT standard motorcycle, which it plans to sell in March during this year. The naked R nineT surely has got amazing looks and it seems that experts at BMW have really worked hard on the bike to make it so attractive. As far as the engine of the new roadster is concerned, it incorporates the 1170cc boxer engine of the BMW that is both air and oil-cooled. Due to this fine feature, R nine T has a clear edge over its siblings such as the R1200GS of BMW. In addition, the brushed aluminium tail and black wheels of the bike makes its more appealing to the people who love contemporary naked motorcycles.
