Best MotoGP Riders Who Lost Their Lives in the Grand Prix Racing

Each year the World Motorcycle Grand Prix Racing gives more action and thrill to its fans, as the best and fearless riders from around the world challenge each other to death in this furious contest. As a result of that each season MotoGP racing not only see a new champion, but also witness some terrible accidents, which sometimes become a cause of death for many riders. In fact, due to this treacherous nature of the sport, today many talented MotoGP riders are not among us anymore. Below are some of the stories of best MotoGP riders who lost their lives while competing in the Grand Prix motorcycle racing.

Loriscapi Rossi

He is not related to Valentino Rossi, but Loriscapi was a MotoGP rider, who took part in the motorcycle racing championship with Suzuki team. The poor rider had a head-on collision during a race with other riders in the contest. Loriscapi failed to survive the serious injuries which he sustained during this crash and passed away.


Mark O'Melandry

The Irish rider O'Melandry, who represented team Do-Katty in the MotoGP, originally was not a racer as initially he spent most of his life travelling in different parts of the world and prior joining the Grand Prix his last job was of salesman in Malaysia. In fact, it was in Malaysia where O'Melandry discovered his love for MotoGP. Mark instantly made a name for himself in the Gand Prix circuit with a successful start, but unfortunately he died in a crash in his third race only.

Colin Edwards

Valentino Rossi was not the only insane rider that Yamaha team has signed up ever, as Colin Edwards popularly known as Crazy Edwards was another nutcase racer in the team. Edwards gained this nickname when he proved himself more nuttier than Rossi. However, luck did not favour Crazy Colin much, as he suffered some serious injuries during a horrific accident on one of the 67 Spanish circuits which caused his death. Interestingly, Colin managed to escape the death terrifying accident just 4 laps before he got killed in the second crash.


Carlos of the Exchequer

MotoGP was not the first love of Carlos, as initially he started his career as a politician and in very short time people started rated him among the top politicians of his time until he got bored with his negative publicity and decided to join, MotoGP. Although, Carlos was completely inexperienced when it comes to motorcycle racing, in spite of it he got the chance to race. However, like most of the other MotoGP riders, Carlos died in the first race of his life after he failed to determine where his steering wheel was.

John Hopkins

Hopkins was also known by the name of "The Grasshopper" because the MotoGP rider was one of the tallest racers in the history of the Grand Prix. Therefore, his legs were pretty long as compared to other racers, but his luck line was not so long, as poor chap lost his life along with few other riders in his first race when he along with others were trying to go under a low bridge.
