Valentino Rossi Grabs First Victory of the Season as Marc Marquez Slides

The crowd at Misano went crazy on Sunday, September 14, when Movistar Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi clinched his first victory at home track after five long years. In fact, it was Rossi’s first conquest in the MotoGP World Championship after last year’s race at Assen. Rossi’s teammate Jorge Lorenzo also had a terrific competition, he finished the race just 1.578s behind his partner to secure the position. The third place was claimed by Repsol Honda Team’s Dani Pedrosa as Marc Marquez slides at lap 10 to finish 15th in the race.

Lorenzo was the pole man at Misano, but he failed to maintain the advantage because the doctor had other plan in mind. Rossi gained the lead in the early laps without wasting much time by overtaking his partner and then, showed his skills once again to dominate Marquez in the early battle. The reigning MotoGP World Champion, however, did not give up the chase as he continued the hot pursuit. Unfortunately, Marquez arrived too fast at the Rio corner in lap 10 and his bike got slipped at the track.

Marc ended up securing just one point this time as he managed to restart his Honda RC213V with the help of officials and crossed the chequered flag in 15th place. Rossi, on the other hand, continued his journey with the same pace and eventually ended up grabbing his first victory of the season in style. The Italian rider also managed to reach the 5000 Grand Prix points with this victory. The crowed was ecstatic over Rossi’s win, whose house is just 20 minutes drive away from the circuit.

Besides the crowd, Movistar Yamaha team was also pretty ecstatic as it was a double treat for them. Given that both first and second positions belonged to their riders with Lorenzo claiming second position for the fourth time in a row. In contrast to Jorge, Pedrosa managed to reach the rostrum in third position for the ninth time during this season. Dani crossed the finish line 1.234s before the diligent Ducati Team rider Andrea Dovizioso, who secured the fourth place.

Pramac Racing’s Andrea Iannone also had a good race. He was able to impress the MotoGP fans with another great result by finishing fifth. The sixth place was seized by Monster Yamaha Tech3’ rookie rider Pol Espargaro, who rode well and finished 4.1s before his partner Bradley Smith. GO&FUN Honda Gresini’s Alvaro Bautista, Ducati’s Cal Crutchlow and Energy T.I. Pramac Racing’s Yonny Hernandez rounded the top ten.

Marquez was not the only rider who got crashed during the race. LCR Honda MotoGP’s Stefan Bradle, Avintia Racing’s Mike Di Meglio, NGM Forward Racing’s Aleix Espargaro and Octo IodaRacing Team’s Danilo Petrucci also failed to make it to the top ten after crashing out. However, all remained safe during the crashes, except for Di Meglio, who suffered some injuries.

Di Meglio would have suffered even more serious injury if he was not wearing a high performance protective gear. So it is imperative that riders should never compromise on the quality of their gear and always buy high quality motorcycle clothing, helmet, shoes, gloves and more from J&S Accessories.
